Industries We Serve

Energy Industry

The main purpose of corrosion protection in any industry is preservation of assets. In the energy industry, this preservation has important consequential considerations such as the protection of the people and the environment. Lack of attention to the important details of corrosion can result in bad outcomes, but doesn’t necessarily need to be if proper oversight is rendered.

In the upstream part of energy production, whether offshore or onshore, production and piping life cycles have been historically understated. A production enterprise and its infrastructure may have originally planned to have a life estimate of 10 or 20 years.

As production technologies improved over the years, these estimates have sometimes been proven to be short of the actual lifecycle requirements and corrosion protection in the way of coatings and cathodic protection may not have been designed or implemented for this longer asset life than what was originally estimated. Then, present-day dollars then must be used to remedy that situation are then needed to maintain both regulatory and corporate corrosion protection criteria. Proper corrosion protection planning, materials selection and oversight of their usage can mitigate these potential long-term pitfalls and avoid future expenses in order to preserve long term assets. TWC Group can help set these programs up in order.

Water Industry

Water Industry Corrosion in the water industry presents special challenges including the prioritization of preemptive measures to prevent corrosion. Sometimes, although management wants to implement proactive corrosion mitigation efforts, construction and maintenance personnel are not given the educational tools and the budgets in order to become proactively able to recognize issues and apply preemptive and maintenance strategies to stop corrosion. TWC Group is able to help set up oversight and guidelines as general or as detailed as a client wishes in order to begin the process of mitigating costly corrosion and most importantly, to guide where controlling corrosion-based investments should be made.

As mentioned earlier, and highly respected independent corrosion industry study has established that the cost of corrosion as multiples of that of the energy industry. Cost savings over time can be very substantial and serve the public interests. Our highly qualified consultants can be temporarily engaged to help set up corrosion control programs that are oriented toward value and cost savings which accumulate within budget constraints over time.

Chemical Process Industry

Chemical industries and petroleum refining industry have very active maintenance programs for their exposed infrastructures. These are supported by vendor professionals and often experienced personnel. However, some highly effective corrosion mitigation measures may “fall through the cracks” due to lack of their penetration into the petrochemical and refining industries. We have seen through our experience, that underground pipe corrosion in these industries is often an afterthought or oriented towards antiquated and marginally effective technologies. TWC Group is able to assist in updating these standards and implementing materials and procedures on both the maintenance and new construction side that will result in a corrosion protection profile that will be built on a foundation of more modern but proven technologies. Our experts will be contracted on the basis of their ability to provide these solutions while remaining sensitive to the fact that those in the evaluative and implementation process phases must be engaged in the process.
